ERA Downtown Work
ERA has recently expanded and strengthened its downtown practice. The new group—Downtown Works—is a specialty practice area that offers training and hands-on assistance for recruiting retail tenants for downtowns and commercial centers. Downtown Works complements ERA’s market and financial analysis and downtown planning and development studies by offering continuing advisory services through implementation of leasing plans. By focusing on implementation and transferring retailer-outreach and recruitment efforts to recruit to the local level, Downtown Works provides a critical tool for Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), city governments, civic and downtown management organizations, and property owners. Services can be packaged to meet the specific needs of local markets, whether at the beginning stage or redefining existing downtown programs. ERA’s Downtown Works practice brings real world experience to our consulting assignments to generate real results.
The senior team for the downtown practice includes:

A founder of the National Trust’s Main Street Program, he has worked across the U.S. and in a dozen foreign countries. He is currently advising the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey on redevelopment of the World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan.
Midge McCauley, Principal, with over 30 years experience in retail ownership, recruitment, leasing, and merchandising consulting. A former executive with the Rouse Company, Midge has owned and operated specialty retail stores in Honolulu, Seattle and Nantucket.
W. Thomas Lavash, Senior Associate, with 20 years experience in urban and mixed-use development consulting, master planning, and market and financial analysis. He has advised numerous communities across the United States as well as private sector interests in downtown redevelopment and commercial district revitalization.
