Jade Shipman, Senior Associate

 

Jade works on urban planning and real estate development projects throughout the United States for both public and private sector clients.  She specializes in community impacts, economic development strategies, market feasibility, and tax incentives. 

 

As a national authority on the community impacts of real estate developments that have utilized New Markets Tax Credits, Jade was an invited panelist at the 2007 Enterprise Community Conference in Cleveland, Ohio.  She has completed analyses of more than 25 developments in over 20 major market areas nationwide.  These studies examine the public benefits stemming from innovative community-focused real estate projects in low- and moderate-income areas.  Land uses she has analyzed include manufacturing, warehousing, residential, office, retail, mixed-use, hospitality, and educational.

 

Other projects completed by Jade include fiscal impact analyses and economic development strategies for public agencies, as well as feasibility studies for urban infill and suburban sites on behalf of cities and private developers.

 

Jade holds a Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania, where she concentrated on international planning and economics.  She received a Bachelor’s Degree with High Honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a major in sociology.  Ms. Shipman is a member of the American Planning Association and a Young Leader of the Urban Land Institute.  She is proficient in Spanish.
